Contents

In this section you will find some rules on how we publish information. It is important that the Wiki looks similar on every page.

General Rules

  • The Wiki is a source of information on creature, equipment, resources and tutorials etc. do not use the pages to detail how to "cheat" or gain advantages by the use of "exploits". Such information should be reported to the Support Team via http://www.afterworld.ru/contact any pages added with this kind of information will be deleted.
  • Please do not plagiarize other sources of information, if you add detail to a page which is based on someone else's work please provide due credit to your source and enable the validity of the information to be checked.

Sandbox

If you want to test how to Edit Pages try out the Sandbox or the Test-Page

Naming items or resources

Each item has a unique name inside Afterworld. We show this by an example

Example 1

This is the manufacturing programm of a Bullet P ammunition.
The correct name is MFP_Bullet_P

Example 2

And a Bullet P is the result when we use the manufacturing programm.
The correct name is Bullet_P

Naming Rules

  • Use strictly the name as shown inside Afterworld (Exceptions see below)
  • Use case sensitive names
  • Use singular names
  • Use "." in names
  • Exchange blanks with the underscore sign "_"
  • Ignore the ":" signs
  • Ignore the ASP Version Numbers "-v1" to "-v10"

Naming of Pictures

Same here. When you upload a picture than use the same rules as described above. This is very important and helps us to work with variables. When a picture has the same name like a page this will help us to organize pages easier. MediaWiki can distinguish between pages and images, so the software won't be confused using same names.

Pages and their Sections

In Every Page

  • Use of Table of Contents - By using =='s "=="data"==" and for each level under that adding a "=" so level 1 is "==" 2 is "===" 3 is "===="
  • Bullets placing a "*" before a line makes it a bullet. a sub-bullet is "**"

Images

  • There are page named images, where the picture with the same name as the page has been uploaded. In this case using "{{GenStatsDescr|-|jpg}}" where "jpg" is exactly the image extension (CaPs CoUnT). " -" is a description.
  • Right side images are made by using "[[Image:Trash Can.jpg|thumb|right|Trash Can]]" where "Trash Can.jpg" is the image name uploaded. "thumb" indicates just show us a thumbnail. "Right" indicates right side (which is the recommended side). "Trash Can" indicates the text that shows under the image (keep it short).
  • In text images. Using [[Image:Update.JPG||200px|Update screen Afterworld]] Where "Update.JPG" is the image name (CaPs CoUnT). "200px" is the size of the thumbnail you would like to appear. "Update screen Afterworld" is the text you would like to appear under the picture (keep it short).

Catagories

Catagories are used to help combine items into groups automaticly. We use catagories to describe how the item is made/looted, from terminal/mob what its crafted/looted, what type of item it is (cyborg, mutant, electronic, medical.....). A list of different catagories can be found here Special:Categories. Note if you get confused (and we all do) about these, it is best to find a existing page in the same section or terminal or mob, and use its categories by default.

Creating a List

When creating a list of items, creatures, zones etc. the list should be as far possible arranged alphabetically to make reading easier and quicker to reference. If the nature of the list suits an alternative logic to the sequence, this guideline need not apply.

Different Types of Pages

In this section you find some links for deeper information and you will find a standard layout. Each page should be build same.

  • Tutorials are free form and built to best fit what is being Taught

Using Templates

The usage of templates helps. Please note the page type (Above) that you are working on and use these templates. If you are creating a new page, please consider copying an existing page and making pages to it with the new page data. This will save you lots of time!

  • to reduce typing
  • to improve the general layout
  • to improve the appearance of this Wiki.

Use templates as often as you can. You can see a list which templates already exist.
