Trash Can

Trash Can
Trash Can

Trash Cans contain basic tools that are free to collect. There are six Trash Cans
in Quarantine Zone A1. Trash Cans are rust brown colored and are attached to
some buildings. In the trash cans you can find axes, picks, and knives.

Items in the trash can respawn each time you access the trash can. If you take
all the items out of the trash can, it will be refilled when you access it again.

Move to a trash can and press the Right Mouse Button to access it. To get an
item, drag & drop it from the Trash Can Window to your Inventory. Your Inventory
Window automatically appears when accessing a trash can. The items you will
need at first are an Axe, a Knife and an Pick.

It is recommended that you take 10-15 of each item for a few reasons:

  • All Trash can items are non-repairable.
  • The item's durability is less then 35%.
  • They get used up very fast!
  • They are free!

These tools are free and good for very beginning , but do not allow you to
gain skills, which are esential for further playing. These can be gained, once you
reach Citizenship, by using crafted Tools, like Steel Axe, Dagger Pugio and a
Steel Pick.

Tools from Trash

Inside the Trash Can
Inside the Trash Can
Axe - Used to chop down Trees for Logs.

Not all trees can be chopped down. Walk into the tree: if you cannot pass
through it, chop it down! Walk to the tree, and equip your axe. In the window
above chat, it will inform you of resources gained in kilograms or grams. It may
also say that you did not get any resources.

Pick - Used to mine Stones for Ores.

Stones are found in many zones. They vary in size, color and shape. Only
exposed stones on the ground can be mined using this tool. Different ores can
be extracted from the same stone.

Knife - Used to cut Flowers.

The same situation is with flowers. Run into them, if you can't walk through (your
avatar will make small jump above the plant), these are collectable.

Quickbar (use Item)

Quick Bar (Hotkeys)
Quick Bar (Hotkeys)

A handy feature is the Quick Bar (Hot Keys). Put items that you use often
there to equip them quickly. If you choose not to do so, you will need to open
your Inventory and drag an item to your Equip-Slot each time you want to
equip an item.

  • Open your Inventory and drag & drop items on to your Quick Bar.
  • Equip the items by pressing the corresponding number on your keyboard.

Warrant Officer

Promissory Notes are gathered by communicating with the Warrant Officers
in town. You tend to find these grumpy gentlemen in the South West corner of
town. There are 4 Officers working in Shift (same place, different times) to help
all Newcomers (and for sure all Citizen too). You are able to do the Quests for
Promissory Notes up to 150 times.

Note that once you logout and come back after couple of hours, there might be
different Officer on the post. Do not worry, he will come back later, just simply
trade with the new one and and as soon as the old one come back, give him
demanded stack of minerals.

When you communicate with the warrant officer he will request trade of 500kg
(Half Stack of Stones) of one of these ores or minerals for 1 Promissory Note.
Once you accept the deal you must go and gather the items from the rocks in
the zone. When you have picked some of the requested material out of the
rocks, you must come back and visit the Warrant Officer again to trade. You do
not need to bring all the 500kg at one time, you may bring it in sections. Do
note there are 4 Warrant Officers (WO) who might want different stack of
materials.

When you come back to trade the items you must place required item the
Officer wants in the very first location in your inventory, or the upper left spot
(where the ores etc are kept when gathered). You continue to give the Officers
your items until you have given them 500kg. Once you have given them the
500kg they will hand you a Promissory Note and ask if you want to make
another deal. If you say yes they will give you another stone type to pick and
you are off with your Pick again.

The best way to speed up the process of getting Promissory Notes is to work
with each of the Warrant Officers as well as to keep tracking all of Officers
demands.

As the prize of keep progressing, you will get a gift from government in shape
of random ASP (Assembling Program) or MFP (Manufacturing Program) with
every 10th Promissory Note given to you. These are simply CD's with
programms needed to manufacturing items in game. Do note, that you can't
use them before getting citzenship, and the only one possible place to use
above is Saransk. To this event of accompanies a lot of sparks and lights
around the avatar and also an message above the chat window about your
achievement and kind of ASP/MFP given to you.

Agriculturist
Agriculturist
Slugroach Corpse
Slugroach Corpse

Agriculturist

Other Way to gather some Promissory Notes is to communicating with one
of the Agriculturist at the Farm. The Farm-Area is located in the South of
the Zone and the Agiculturist can be found in the middle of the Farm-Area.

They will ask for help killing Slugroach, who run around on the fields,
and offer to give a Promissory Note for every 50 Slugroach corpse you bring
to them.

For Hunting the wanted Slugroach you will need a small Melee Weapon like
the Dagger Pugio or a small Rifle like the B&V Sieger with Ammo. If the
used Weapon deal to much Damage the Loot of this Creature gets destroyed.

If you collected the asked Amount of Corpse, deliver them to to Agriculturist
to get your Reward.

Using AWD

AWD (AW-Dollar)
AWD (AW-Dollar)
AWC (AW-Cent)
AWC (AW-Cent)

To get AWD you can either Deposit (Donation in pre-gold) some real money
into the game or sell items to other players for AWD. If you decide to deposit,
the money will be converted to AWD at a 1 to 10 ratio ($10 equals 100 AWD).

Do note when you leave this zone you will need more AWD to survive and play
the game, so you may consider more than $10 to have fun playing the game.

How do I make AWD? You can use the tools you get from the Trash Cans to
gather Wood, Rocks and Flowers. Then sell these items to other Newcomers
who are trying to get Promissory Notes, or to Citizens who are willing to buy
the product for other uses.

Noobot

Citizenship

The Afterworld State Security Bureau
The Afterworld State Security Bureau

The Afterworld State Security Bureau (AWSSB) has been ordered to help all
newcomers in their application for citizenship. You must communicate with
the Privates from the AWSSB to help in your application. They are located in
the main town which you have been transferred to.

They will explain you that as a Newcomer the process of citizenship into a
citizen has 2 methods. You will not be allowed out of this zone to play the rest
of the game unless you pass one of these 2 tests. You must either give one of
the following to NPC Sergeant R Hripko (or Colleagues of him at same place)
who is in Office Building (East in Town).

The difference between these is that if you obtain Citizenship through P-Notes
you will not receive a RIC Certificate, only the Starter's Pack of Tools, Weapon,
Healkit. So becoming a Citizen by paying the 100 AWD is a preferable way.

Becoming a Noobot

Translukater
Translukater

The system of noobots is a transformation system which helps new citizen to
travel safely from Quarantine Zone to Saransk. A Noobot is a small flying robot
which exists for 45 minutes. Noobots can not be in any way damaged or killed.

Before you become a noobot, make sure to have some of all resources that are
available in Quarantine Zone A1, you might need them for crafting later on. Don't
leave Quarantine to early or with empty hands, the way back to this Zone is not
easy.

Once you have gained your 50 Promissory Notes or have 100 AWD, you need to
go to NPC Sergeant R Hripko (or Colleagues of him at same place) in the Office
Building and give them to him. He will then tell you that you need to become a
Noobot. To do this go to the West Large Building and find a Translukater. Step
into it and let it change you into a Noobot.

Noobot Journey

A Noobot
A Noobot

Well first you have 2 choices on how to become a full citizen.

  • You can request a Courier deliver you to revival (Noobot Delivery Center
LoD at x: 2600 y: 4000), this takes between 30 and 45 minutes. To do this
make a request in chat to see if a Courier is available. They will transport
you to the revival and you will be one of us!
  • You can go on your own journey for 45 Minutes of online time. To do this go
to the North Wall Building in Quarantine and you will see the exit door is half
open. Once you go thru it you will enter the Labyrinth of Death. At that point
you have 45 Minutes of play time to get yourself to the revival. If you don't get
there in 45 Minutes you will teleport to Saransk by default.

A Noobot can be picked up (willingly or not) by a person with a Courier License
and delivered to the Noobot revival. Couriers are given a Scout Cheque for this
service so it's in the courier's interests to find, pick up and deliver a noobot.

A noobot can be picked up by a courier only inside LoD. If a Noobot is picked up by
a courier it becomes a sort of Inventory Item. The Noobot can't move or do anything
except of observing the Courier's run through LoD. If the Courier is killed the Noobot
gets released and can be picked up by another Courier.

Citizen

Welcome to Saransk

Saransk
Saransk

Well there is a whole bunch of exploring to do. You should have been given
some basic items to help you survive for the short term.

Do note that when you were rescued as a noobot you have been revived in
Saransk. Between them and the Quarantine Zone A1 which you came from
is a very dangerous Labyrinth of Death. You probably don't want to go back
there right now. Give yourself some time to learn the game before consider
this task.

If you want to Travel from Saransk back to Quarantine Zone A1 take a look
at the page "Way back to A1".

Now that you are a citizen and arrived in Saransk city for the first time, you can now
start to skill and gain Skill Advancement Units or SAU for short. If have blocked Skills
from collecting Resources you can now unblock them with SAU at the
Skill Advancement Terminal.

As Citizen you can now, if wanted, join or create a Society, craft at Terminals
and use the Auction.

Map and Zones

Map of Afterworld
Map of Afterworld

Well the map changes as new zones come and go, but here is a map of the
current zones as we know them. If you hit the Key "O" on your keyboard you
will get your current location and possibly be able to find yourself on the map.

If you enter a Zone the first time, than Team/Society Chat will not work until
you visit the Retransmitter of that Zone.

You can set own Marks on Ingame-Map to find places again (Map -> Control-
Panel -> New)

Things to check out. Saransk is another town like Quarantine Zone A1, but full
functional. It is also the home of many of the ingame Societies. Lots of trading
and crafting go on in this zone.

All the other Saransk Zones (N,NW,W,SW....) each look the same but have a
different type of creatures and underground mining to be found. Good Hunting
Zones for Beginner with many small Creatures are Saransk N and Saransk W.

The Deadly Forest and Turfary B are thick forests full of creatures and under-
ground mining.

Chemy 25 is a dangerous place to go to. First the air will kill you unless you own
and wearing a Gas-mask Mil with Gas-Filters. If you don't you may die there and
have to be rescued by friends or Soc members with Anti Toxic Shots.

On the far side of Chemy 25 you will find Zone TL1 as a moon scape, lots of
volcanoes, large creatures and lots and lots of running.

To the West of Saransk (West) you will find a group of zones including
Desert Peak, Skull Valley, Frozen Anomalies, Snow-covered Frontier.
These zones are connected to each other going South to North. Going from
the South to the North you will find both an increase in damage by mobs
and decrease in tempature. Far to the North the mobs are very big and
the air is very very cold. You will need some help to get to and out of
the final zone (Snow-covered Fontier) until your a high level Afterworlder

Labyrinth of Death Well this is a very dangerous maze. We recommend only
going there with experienced citizens.

Professions

A Newcomer
A Newcomer
A Fully equiped Citizen
A Fully equiped Citizen

Sometimes you need a job to make a few AWD. Well the following professions
are part of what your fellow citizens do on a daily basis.

  • Miner - Both above and below ground, metals and minerals are some of the
most needed crafting items in game. See Mining tutorial for more information
    about mining.
  • Hunter - Yep killing creatures is always fun, but in Afterworld they also give
some very valuable items needed by crafters! See Hunting tutorial for more
    information about hunting.
  • Medic - Can offer his Medic Service to a Hunter how want hunting something
bigger than his own Healkit is good for.
  • Crafter - Crafting is not as simple as clicking, each Blue Print is complicated
and contains multiple items and other Blue Prints to successfully complete.
Benefit? All items crafted are Limited and must be repaired / re-bought when
they die. So crafters are ALWAYS in need. You can craft Weapons, Armour,
Tools, Clothing and a lot of different Components. See the Crafting tutorial for
    more information about Crafting.
  • Reseller - Although the game has an auction, many players are outside in the
middle of nowhere busy with their own tasks. Citizens are needed to purchase
items and resell them out in the out reaches of the AW zones.
  • Courier - Items have to be moved, but some are very very precious. Licensed
couriers are hired to move the most valuable ones and they receive payment
    for the AW government.
  • Noob Helper - Yes those poor noobs in Quarantine Zone A1 need information
and resources to get them to their citizenship. Helping them both feels good
but also is a great way of gathering resources. Maybe you can help a noob
    today!
  • Rescue Squad - Some of these creatures can really pack a punch and some
do not want to let you escape. Rescue squads move around in AW helping out
citizens for a kind thank you and the excitement of the battle.
  • Police Squad - Yes its true, you too can save the world .. ahh well .. you can
make sure anyone being bad know about it. The AW Police squad is in charge
of checking on citizen requests for help and problems ingame.
  • Cartographer - Record a useful map containing key points (terminals in cities,
gates, places of interest, etc) on it and sell to interested citizens.

What else can there be? You tell us! We want to know what job you have in game!

Have Fun in Afterworld!
